Course Content

This Online Course consists of 6x 30 minute video sessions. It is fully evidenced based and aims to support you, not tell you what to do!

Session 1

Observing and responding to
play cues

Learn what is happening in your child's brain when they play, how to observe effectively and a simple technique for generating play ideas.

Session 3

Play stories and behaviour

Learn how to write a short play story, recognise what play isn't and learn everything you need to know about behaviour and play.

Session 5

Technology and Play

Learn how to use technology effectively in the play environment. Understand the harms of technology and how to use the Triple E Framework.

Session 2

The Play Cycle

Learn the concept of the play cycle, learn to spot different play types and learn to generate more play ideas.

Session 4

Flow play and barriers to play

Understand what great play looks like. Find out about the clash of agendas, how not to direct play and how stereotypes can be harmful.

Session 6

The Play Environment

Understand how to set up an effective play environment, the limits of toys, the concept of loose parts, closed and open tasks and the benefits of the outdoors.
